COVID-19 Statistics (County, State, Nation, World) and Highlights from Washtenaw County Health Dept.

Summary as of Thursday, April 30:

MSMS Workgroup Safe Practice Recommendations

Per Medigram: As federal and state directives and guidance impacting the operation of medical facilities, reopening of sectors of the economy, and the public’s mobility status are expected to relax over the next several weeks, physician practices and other health care facilities will need to determine their readiness to resume routine health care. The Michigan State Medical Society convened a workgroup to explore what steps are necessary for physicians and other health care providers to safely “ramp up” for full delivery of health care services. The result is a compilation of recommendations for the Safe Return to Clinical Practice.

COVID-19 Practice Survey

The Michigan State Medical Society is asking member and non-member medical practices to complete this brief survey regarding the business impact of the COVID-19 crisis on their practices.

The information gathered will be used as guide for MSMS and WCMS advocacy efforts with the governor’s office, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and state and federal legislators to make them aware of the issues and challenges you’re currently facing, including changes in patient volumes, revenues, and staffing concerns.

2020 HOD Resolutions Package

The House of Delegates (HOD) is the official policy-making body of the Michigan State Medical Society. Resolutions crafted by individual physician members are the vehicles used to debate and determine the policies, priorities, and direction of the medical societies. Due to COVID-19, this year's spring meeting was postponed, but members are encouraged to review this year's resolutions. Consider submitting feedback to the Society Office for the delegation's review.

If you're interested in learning more about the process, joining the Washtenaw delegation at the May 2021 HOD, or submitting ideas on how to improve medicine, patient care, or public health issues, please contact the Society Office.
